Thank you for taking part in the 2011 Glasgow Music Festival.
This year's Festival - the 100th - will feature some 7,000 performers from across Scotland and other parts of the United Kingdom. The two-week programme of events covers speech, drama, dance and music. Bands, orchestras, ensembles and choirs, in addition to hundreds of soloists, will perform in public and be appraised by a team of leading professional adjudicators. Every group or soloist taking part in the Festival will receive a Certificate of Performance. In addition, performers may elect to receive marks and may qualify for special certificates, bursaries or awards.
Performance is one of the most important aspects of the Festival. We hope that you will enjoy taking part and find the advice and encouragement of the adjudicators worthwhile.
We look forward to welcoming all your friends and supporters to swell the audience. They'll want to hear your performance, of course, but they can also enjoy hearing other performers as well as other events. There is a nominal admission charge for those who are not performers and tickets are on sale at the door along with Souvenir Programmes.
About 4 weeks before the start of the Festival you will receive a Registration Slip which shows the date and time of your event in the section entitled "Your performance". On the reverse there is important information which you should also read carefully.
During the fortnight, The Evening Times will have daily coverage of festival events. Look out for features, photographs and full results. Visit The Evening Times website for more photographs, video, features and news.
